Services & Fees

What is therapy?
Therapy is an investment in your well-being and in your relationships. Mental health therapy, psychotherapy, and counseling are terms often used interchangeably. They refer to the process of working with a licensed mental health professional to address a range of emotional, relational, or behavioral challenges. Dr. Johnson is a licensed psychologist. Psychologists are mental health professionals who hold a doctorate degree in psychology (PsyD, PhD, or EdD) and have advanced training in providing high quality mental health services.
How can therapy help me?
Psychologists utilize a range of research-based strategies to equip clients to approach problems in new ways. A psychologist can help identify why previous efforts to solve a problem have not worked and support more targeted progress toward your personal goals.
How much do services cost?
During our initial session we will discuss your unique goals, ideal outcomes, expected timeline, and fees. Session fees are listed below. Weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly session options are available. A superbill can be provided upon request which you can submit to your insurance if they offer reimbursement for out-of-network providers. You can check with your insurance company to determine if HSA or other benefits may help cover the costs of sessions.

Individual Sessions
$200 per session

Couple or Family Sessions
$250 per session
How long does treatment usually take?
This depends on a variety of factors. While some report feeling better after just one session, 10 to 13 sessions tends to be a common benchmark at which many people are able to see lasting results. During the first 2 sessions, we will develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs and agree upon a tentative timeline. We will periodically review the treatment plan, discuss progress toward your goals, and adjust the treatment plan as needed.
Can I use my insurance to pay for therapy?
I do not bill insurance, but I can provide you with a superbill upon request if you choose to seek reimbursement from your insurance company for out-of-network benefits.
Why do people choose to pay out-of-pocket for therapy?
When therapy is covered by insurance, the insurance company dictates the length and duration of sessions as well as aspects of the services provided. Some diagnoses or concerns may not be covered, and payments may stop without timely notice leaving patients liable for any unpaid bills. Any documentation associated with your treatment becomes part of your file with the insurance company and can impact other benefits such as the cost of life insurance and other premiums or coverages. These are some of the reasons why many people choose to pay out-of-pocket for therapy when given the choice between private pay and using insurance benefits.
